Firefox enters with a boom
Since the Firefox web browser’s release in 2004, it has received a better ratio of searches on Google than Internet Explorer. In fact, Firefox has peformed that well, searches have never dropped below Explorer from the time they met.
In contrast to Firefox’s successful launch, and perhaps as a result of its rapid success, searches for Internet Explorer have been steadily declining since the beginning of 2004, having dropped around 25%. By the looks of it, all augurs well for the future of Firefox.
While Firefox’s rapid rise is quite something, the amount of searches could be misleading and do not necessarily indicate the amount of use for each browser. Remembering that Internet Explorer is the most common default browser, it is fair to assume that people would not wish to search for it when they already have it. Still there must be concerns for Explorer that since Firefox’s inception it has been receiving less and less web searches.
